Rep. Keicher takes oath of office for 102nd General Assembly

State Representative Jeff Keicher, R-Sycamore, was sworn in for his second full term on Wednesday, joining all 118 members of the Illinois House of Representatives for the inauguration of the 102nd General Assembly held at the Bank of Springfield Center. Keicher has represented Illinois’ 70th District since July 2018 serving portions of DeKalb, Kane and Boone Counties.

“Illinois government has a lot of work to do in 2021.  We must work together to position Illinois to effectively distribute COVID-19 vaccines and assist our economy in recovery from the ravaging effects of the pandemic and rules imposed by our Governor,” Keicher said. “I will work to find common ground with the Governor on needed policy changes to create jobs, strengthen schools, support our agriculture industry and enact meaningful and lasting property tax relief.  I will continue to demand that he take ownership of the performance of his Administration including the Veterans’ Affairs Department and Department of Unemployment and finally forge a plan with a path forward. We need to do a better job of keeping our best and brightest students in Illinois after they graduate high school. Whether they choose to pursue a college education, attend a trade school, or start a career, we have to make Illinois a place of opportunity for everyone.  I believe in Illinois’ future; you should too.”

The Illinois House of Representatives is comprised of 73 Democrats and 45 Republicans for the 2021-2023 term. Following the swearing in, Representative Chris Welch of Hillside was elected Speaker of the House and Representative Jim Durkin of Western Springs was re-elected Minority Leader.

Representative Keicher is a graduate of Northern Illinois University with over 20 years of professional experience in the insurance industry. In 2006, he opened his own State Farm Insurance Agency in Sycamore. His community involvement includes having held executive board positions with the Sycamore Chamber of Commerce, the Sycamore Public Library, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) of Illinois and the Sycamore Rotary Club. He also spent many years serving on boards for the DeKalb Chapter of the American Red Cross, NAIFA Fox Valley, and the Kishwaukee YMCA.

Representative Keicher’s committee assignments for the 2021-2022 legislative session will be announced in the coming weeks. For questions or more information, please visit repkeicher.com or call the District Office at (815) 748-3494.
