Blood Drive hosted by Rep. Keicher, Kishwaukee Family YMCA exceeded goal, impacted and saved 87 lives

Team Leader Jessica from Versiti ready to greet and serve blood donors.

State Representative Jeff Keicher, R-Sycamore, and the Kishwaukee Family YMCA hosted a successful blood drive in partnership with the Versiti Blood Center of Illinois on September 22 at the YMCA in Sycamore.

According to Versiti, there were 29 successful donations which exceeded their goal of 23 and included 16 first-time donors. Donations from the blood drive impacted and saved 87 lives.

“We are very excited to share with the community that our blood drive made a tremendous difference,” Rep. Keicher said. “Impacting 87 lives from one afternoon’s worth of blood donations means a lot to each and every hospital patient who received the blood they needed thanks to the generosity of folks throughout our community who stepped up. I would like to thank all those who donated blood, the Kishwaukee Family YMCA for hosting us, and the team at Versiti for running the drive with incredible professionalism and care. We look forward to working together again to sponsor another blood drive.”

Versiti is currently accepting appointments for individuals to donate blood Mondays-Thursdays and Saturdays at their DeKalb location, 2428 Sycamore Road just east of the intersection at Barber Greene Road. To schedule an appointment, please visit www.versiti.org or call 815-758-7280.
