State Representative Jeff Keicher, R-Sycamore, has been appointed Minority Spokesperson on the Insurance Committee, Immigration and Human Rights Committee, and the Gaming Committee for the 2023-2025 legislative term, in addition to joining the Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, and IT Committee in the new 103rd General Assembly.
The Spokesperson is responsible for leading the efforts of the minority caucus within each committee; including questioning witnesses who provide testimony at committee hearings, being the lead advocate for caucus positions on legislation assigned to that committee, and negotiating with the Committee Chairperson to reach bipartisan consensus on as many bills as possible.
“The committee level is where the bulk of most legislation is crafted with public testimony from concerned citizens and stakeholders from across Illinois,” Keicher said. “My new committee assignments will enable me to have a broad impact across a wide range of policy areas over the next two years. I believe in Illinois because we are home to a highly skilled workforce, incredible not-for-profit organizations, innovative manufacturers and small businesses that create jobs and opportunity, and last but not least outstanding community colleges like Waubonsee and world-class universities like NIU. There is nothing we cannot achieve when we work together in good faith and set partisan differences aside for the common good.”
In addition to his new committee assignments, Representative Keicher was appointed House Republican Caucus Chairman in January, tasked with presiding over caucus meetings and facilitating the exchange of ideas on legislative policy proposals and effective strategies for advancing them through the legislative process. Keicher serves the 70th District, which includes portions of DeKalb, Kane, and McHenry Counties.
