Jury selection began today in the perjury trial of Mike Madigan’s former Chief of Staff, Tim Mapes. This is the latest episode of the Federal government’s wide-ranging corruption investigation. Mapes is accused of lying to federal investigators about communications and knowledge he had of Madigan’s corrupt activities.
“When I went to Springfield, part of my mission was to return the government of Illinois back to the people and out of the hands of the Mike Madigan machine. I look forward to this next step of holding folks accountable and making sure that it won’t happen again,” said State Representative Jeff Keicher (R-Sycamore) about the latest corruption trial involving a former person within state government.
