State Representative Jeff Keicher joined officials in Chicago this week to reaffirm ties with Taiwan in the face of Chinese aggression.
“As the co-chair of the Taiwan Friendship Caucus in the Illinois House, I was pleased to join members of the Chicago City Council yesterday for the establishment of the Council’s own Taiwan Friendship Caucus. The first of its kind by any city in the United States.
“As the Chinese Communist Party pursues its aggressive manipulation of global standards and anti-democratic policies, it is increasingly important for us to strengthen ties with nations like Taiwan that share our democratic values and stand against authoritarianism.
“The Taiwan Friendship Caucus reaffirms our commitment to standing with nations that uphold democratic values and human rights. By building strong relationships with Taiwan, we express our solidarity with those who share our commitment to freedom, democracy, and the rule of law.”
