Rep. Keicher Calls for Protecting Taxpayer Data

Speaking on the House floor, State Rep. Jeff Keicher objected to legislation (House Bill 4720) that will share, without taxpayer notice, personal income data of all Illinois taxpayers with the Treasurer’s office for marketing purposes.

“The Illinois Treasurer manages the state’s money, NOT yours! In order to further the marketing of his products, he’s asking for private and personal income information from the Department of Revenue. Protecting our personal data – including income data – is one of the most important things in our modern age. A State of Illinois Department should absolutely Not be sharing your personal data with any other state agency without your UP FRONT knowledge and consent. Period!”
