Keicher, Local Legislators to Host Senior Health Fair in DeKalb on July 14

The annual free Senior Health Fair hosted by House Minority Leader Tony McCombie (R-Savanna), Senate Minority Deputy Leader Sue Rezin (R-Morris), State Senators Dave Syverson (R-Cherry Valley) and Li Arellano, Jr. (R-Dixon), and State Representatives Jeff Keicher (R-Sycamore) and Bradley Fritts (R-Dixon) is returning to DeKalb High School on July 14.

“As lawmakers, we have a profound responsibility to care for and uplift the most vulnerable members of our communities, which includes our senior citizens, who have spent their lives contributing to the strength and wellbeing of our state,” said Rep. McCombie. “This event will help ensure seniors are not only protected but also fully informed about the resources and services available to them. By increasing awareness and access, we can help our seniors live well.”

The Senior Health Fair will take place on Monday, July 14, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the cafeteria of DeKalb High School, located at 501 West Dresser Road, DeKalb, IL 60115. Dozens of local and state organizations will be on hand to discuss programs and services available for seniors.

“Our seniors deserve access to the tools and support that they need to thrive,” said Sen. Rezin. “This event brings together a wide range of local services and providers in one place, making it easier for our seniors to find the resources they need to stay healthy, safe, and engaged in their communities.”

The Fair will feature free admission, free refreshments and free screenings.

“Seniors play a vital role in our families and communities, and we have a responsibility to make sure they feel supported, informed, and connected,” said Sen. Syverson. “Events like this upcoming health fair are about giving our older residents access to services that can improve their quality of life and help them stay active and independent.”

In addition to information about how to lead a healthier lifestyle, vaccinations and blood pressure checks will also be available to attendees.

“We want our seniors to be living happy, healthy lives,” said Sen. Arellano. “This health fair is a great chance to connect with local services, get helpful information, and take steps toward better health. I encourage all older adults to attend.”

“I’m very pleased to bring our Senior Health Fair back for another year,” said Rep. Keicher. “Not only is the Fair a great opportunity to bring our seniors in the community together, but it’s a great way for us to give back to them by offering a convenient way to access so many services they may benefit from.”

The legislators and staff will also be on hand to speak with constituents and assist with other questions or concerns related to the state of Illinois.

“I encourage all local seniors to come out for our free senior fair!” said Rep. Fritts. “This fair is a great chance for seniors to access multiple resources to improve their health and quality of life at once, saving them both time and money.”
