State Representative Jeff Keicher (R-Sycamore) and State Senator Dave Syverson (R-Cherry Valley) are working with the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office to host an ICash event on May 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Hampshire.
Area residents interested in checking if they have unclaimed assets are encouraged to attend the event at the Ella Johnson Memorial Public Library District, 109 South State Street in Hampshire. Administered by the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office, the ICash program holds unclaimed property until they are reclaimed by rightful owners.
The State Treasurer’s website states that common types of unclaimed property include checking and savings accounts, uncashed wage and payroll checks, uncashed stock dividends and stock certificates, insurance payments, utility deposits, customer deposits, accounts payable, credit balances, refund checks, money orders, traveler’s checks, mineral proceeds, court deposits, uncashed death benefit checks, and life insurance proceeds.
The State Treasurer’s website notes that unclaimed property does not include real estate or vehicles.
For questions or more information, call Sen. Syverson’s office at 815-987-7555 or Rep. Keicher’s office at 815-748-3494. Rep. Keicher serves the 70th District, which includes portions of DeKalb, Kane, and McHenry Counties.
