Rep. Keicher Applauds Efforts to Support Autistic Community

Early this month, the Illinois House of Representatives passed legislation to create a Blue Envelope Program to support Illinoisans living with autism during interactions with law enforcement. Similarly, legislation was recently passed in the Illinois Senate to create an alert on license plates for drivers and passengers who are autistic or neurodivergent.

In reference to the two bills, State Representative Jeff Keicher said, “I was honored to be one of the founding members of the Neurodivergent Advocacy Caucus in the Illinois General Assembly, as well as a sponsor of HB4472, which recently passed the House to create the Blue Envelope Program.

“The two bills referenced in this article (below) will be game-changing for those who are neurodivergent. This community has often been overlooked and undervalued. I appreciate the passion with which my colleague, State Representative Natalie Manley, and others are undertaking to change their lives.”
